From Grow Lights to Garden Beds: Watching Our Garden Come to Life

The bed was cleared, refreshed with new soil, and we kept the existing snapdragons as part of the garden.

The day the seedlings were transplanted into the garden.

On June 23, 2026, this garden began as trays of tiny seeds beneath grow lights inside Casa Feliz Schoolhouse. After weeks of careful watering, transplanting, and nurturing, those seedlings are now thriving in our raised garden beds, ready to welcome our August Garden Science students.

This month's featured flowers include four stunning sunflower varieties—ProCut Orange, ProCut Plum, ProCut Rouge Royale, and Darjeeling—along with the beautiful 'Zinderella Peach' zinnias and young Decorative and Pompon dahlias, all grown from seed.

When our August Garden Science Series begins, students will observe these flowers at different stages of growth while planting and caring for their own sunflower and zinnia seedlings. Together, we'll explore plant life cycles, pollinators, scientific observation, and the wonder of watching a tiny seed become something extraordinary.

We can't wait to share this garden with our young scientists! 🌻
