Meet the Flowers in Our August Garden Science Series

One of the most exciting parts of our August Garden Science Series is that every child gets to design their own garden! Rather than everyone growing the exact same flowers, each student will choose their favorite varieties to fill their 12-cell seed tray. This allows every garden to be unique while giving students the opportunity to compare colors, growth habits, and bloom shapes throughout the series.

We've selected a collection of professional-quality cut flowers grown by flower farmers around the world. These varieties were chosen for their beauty, strong performance in our South Florida climate, and their ability to attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.

🌻 Sunflower Varieties

ProCut® Orange

🌱 Your Garden, Your Choice

Each child will choose the varieties they'd like to grow and fill their 12-cell seed tray with their personal selection. Some may decide to grow mostly sunflowers, while others may create a colorful mix of sunflowers and zinnias. There are no wrong choices—every tray will become a one-of-a-kind garden.

Over the next four weeks, students will observe germination, measure plant growth, compare leaves and flowers, document discoveries in their Garden Science Journal, and learn how sunlight, water, soil, and pollinators all work together to help plants thrive.

By the end of the series, each child will take home a thriving collection of flowers they started from seed—along with the confidence that comes from growing something with their own hands.
